Thad Konieczny is a senior at Grand Valley State University who hosts his show, Deep Roots, every Sunday from 4 to 5 PM. Deep Roots features a wide variety of artists and styles stemming from the country/folk genre. Thad has a few musicians who are on his show’s setlist almost every week. Big Thief, Jason Isbell, and Lucinda Williams are some artists you can catch listening to on his show!

 

On his show, Thad likes playing songs that were recommended to him by his friends and family, “just to show them I'm paying attention to what they like.” Besides playing requests, the GVSU senior likes playing experimental and out-of-the-ordinary music on-air that doesn’t get played on commercial radio stations. 

 

Other than being a part of Whale Radio, Thad loves walking around the GVSU campus and embracing nature. He loves how he can walk anywhere he needs to go and that it’s “Great exercise and good for the soul.”
